Rita Marie Johnson

Rita Marie Johnson is the Founding Director of Rasur Foundation International and the creator of the BePeace Practice.  BePeace combines a scientifically tested technique for feeling peace with a method for speaking peace that creates an honest, empathetic connection. This practice helps people access their natural wisdom and compassion.

Now Rita Marie teaches the BePeace Foundations Course at the UN University for Peace in Costa Rica, where international graduate students receive two credits for the course. She initiated a Ministry for Peace bill in Costa Rica that passed in 2009.  She established the Academy for Peace there to teach BePeace in public schools, impacting almost 18,000 children.  She has succeeded in creating long term sustainablity for the program so it can be upscaled to the national level. This was accomplished by gifting her property, valued at a million dollars, to the UN University for Peace as their second campus.

In the last two years, Rita Marie has been focused on training BePeace teachers and teaching BePeace to people of all ages in the United States. Over 600 US participants have graduated from the Foundations Course and 46 teachers have been certified.  Oakley Elementary in Houston is the first BePeace pilot school in the United States and the positive impact of the program was recently documented in a video. Plans are in motion to reach thousands more children and youth with the BePeace Practice.
